I think drugs...

I think you need to be careful here. I think drugs can be a great aid for the spiritual seeker. Obviously, they are not for everyone, but for others they open up the mind to possibilities that they've never fathomed before.

What I've always found is that the type of experience the user receives is wholly dependent on the mindset of the user and what they ultimately want from it. Is it cheating? Is it cheating to need a cup of coffee to get you through the working day?

With regards to your comment about it permanently doing damage to you... The changes are merely chemical and temporary. I'm sure you believe that the mental preceeds the physical (and not the other way around as most atheistic scientists will have you believe). Of course it is going to change you because it will ultimately have an effect on your psyche. What I want o say is, if you have a strong enough mind, you can use these experiences for your own benefit and not let it ensnare you.

Sometimes, the only way we can get that instantaneous release from our frantic, money-driven, egotistical society that we live in, is to turn to these drugs that often "force" us into another place where we can have direct communion with our spiritual side, and to perhaps serve as a reminder that there is another more beautiful reality out there for us to work for when we're sober. Not everybody has the patience like you do.

Your comment about darker spirits out there that "once in won't leave"... one thing that i've learnt from my experiences is that you literally attract these demons or whatever they are depending on whatever might be lurking within your own psyche. It's all a matter of perception and that they are merely a reflection of yourself. I've had the most beautiful experiences when i've kept my intentions and thoughts pure and also the most horrid visions filled with ghastly creatures when my judgements were clouded with selfish wants and desires.

My point is that any negative experiences can be transcended; the mind is far too powerful to be permanently affected by any drug. The onus is entirely on the individual. Saying that though, there are a lot of people out there who use drugs as an excuse to NOT do any real work on their lives
